Roza Terenzi is coming to Zagreb! She reveals 25 things you probably didn’t know about her

After numerous performances along the Adriatic coast, Australian DJ powerhouse Roza Terenzi is finally heading to the Croatian capital. The Zagreb-Rijeka collective VHS is set to host her on May 30th at Peti Kupe.

Joining the founder of the Step Ball Chain label on the lineup are residents Roland and Vlado Kaponja, along with Grenco from the Greenlight Collective. Before the club night kicks off at 11 PM, the official warm-up will take place on the club’s terrace starting at 8 PM.

Born Katie Campbell, Roza hails from Perth, where she took her first creative steps. After spending some time in Melbourne, she relocated to Berlin in 2020.

Despite the lockdown, she released her debut album Modern Bliss, set up a studio, and launched her own label — a bold move that paved the way for her international breakthrough.

Shaped by the Australian underground, she quickly stood out with her masterful storytelling and genre-bending sets, all marked by a signature style you can recognize instantly.

Her DJ sets are a ride — finely intense and sultry, whether tailored for the club or home listening. She builds the peak with unapologetic rhythms, sexy grooves, and skin-tingling vocals, whipping dance floors into euphoric frenzies.

Roza is just as thrilling in the studio. Her productions aim to redefine club music with originality and flair.

Her tracks float somewhere between psychedelic breakbeat, introspective futch electronics, and trippy trance, offering a little something for every mood and occasion.

Beyond the music, she also grabs attention with a strong visual identity. Releases on Step Ball Chain are wrapped in raw, experimental artwork that bleeds into her personal aesthetic as well.

Over the years, Roza has released on respected labels like Kalahari Oyster Cult, Dekmantel, Klasse Wrecks, and Planet Euphorique which is run by her collaborator and close friend D.Tiffany.

Together, they’ve dropped the album Edge of Innocence and EPs Tapestry of Sound and Tapestry Reloaded. This summer, they’re also set to share the booth at Dekmantel Selectors.

“I’ve been working with D.Tiffany since 2017. I’m incredibly grateful to have someone I collaborate with so naturally and effortlessly,” Roza told us in a 2023 interview.

In addition to that duo, she’s also collaborated with jd, Maara (as Bass Butches), Ex-Terrestrial, Priori, and Nap.

There’s also trickpony — a project born out of collaboration with Australian peer Mike Midnight and Finnish artist Maria Korkeila — where Roza has proven herself a deft downtempo trip-hop composer. Their debut EP Pillow Talk dropped in mid-2024, and new material is already in the works.

What makes Roza’s musical journey especially charming is the fact that she dropped her first track back in elementary school.

Under the name KayTee, she released Clap to the Crap Rap in 2003 as a self-declared “nine-year-old rapper, singer, and producer.” The track was produced and remixed by her father.

“I’m really lucky my dad’s a musician. I always send him my records and things I’m working on. He gives me amazing feedback,” said the talented Australian, who also writes, sings, and plays piano, guitar, and drums.

This year, Roza became a resident at MARICAS, a Spanish queer party series run by her friends ISAbella, Eloisa Blitzer, and Gina Guasch.

She also dropped the EP Ministry of Wish on her own label and completed yet another Asian tour. Besides Zagreb, she’s set to play at two Tisno festivals this year — Love International and the aforementioned Dekmantel Selectors.

Despite a packed schedule, she took a moment to fill out our DJ slam book, giving us a peek into her off-stage life.
